REDE GROUP'S PROJECT "MICRO AND MACROFOUNDATIONS OF ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSES TO GRAND CHALLENGES" RECEIVES ONE OF THE "KNOWLEDGE GENERATION PROJECTS" GRANTS FROM THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND INNOVATION
The project "MICRO AND MACROFOUNDATIONS OF
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSES TO GRAND CHALLENGES", presented by the
researchers Xosé H. Vázquez and Antonio Sartal, from REDE group, has just
received a grant from the Ministry of SCIENCE and Innovation in the call for
KNOWLEDGE GENERATION PROJECTS (2022). This project has also obtained additional
funding for a grant associated with the training of pre-doctoral research
staff.
The project is based on organisational institutionalism and
combines micro (individuals, organisations) and macro (industries,
institutions) elements to comprehensively analyse the antecedents and
moderators of organisational responses to grand challenges, i.e., complex
environmental and social issues that companies must address beyond short-term economic
objectives. While conventional wisdom suggests that institutional pressures
should lead firms to conform to these expectations to avoid legitimacy
penalties, empirical evidence contradicts this notion, as regulatory deviation
does not always lead to firm insulation.
